Angela Calvo is Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Science at the University of Torino, President of CIRSDe (Research Centre for Women’s and Gender Studies), member of CISAO (Interdepartmental Centre of Research and Scientific Collaboration with the African Countries) and IRIS (Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Sustainability).
To combine theory and field experience, she was responsible of more than 13 projects where she implemented gender aspects in appropriate technologies, renewable energies and trainings for rural people.
She dedicated her gender research also to ergonomics and safety in agriculture and forestry. She then focused on statistics and socio-environmental indicators in rural gender development programs.
She collaborated and collaborates with IAO (Agronomic Institute for Overseas) the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGCS) and national and international NGO for gender issues in rural development. She was member of the Working Group on water gender indicators (UNESCO).
