Maria Teresa Gutierrez
International Labour Organization (ILO)
Alternate Gender Coordinator

Peruvian woman, Anthropologist and social scientist, whose professional formation has related her to themes of Archaeology, Popular Culture, Social Anthropology and Applied Anthropology.
This background relates her very narrowly with the rural area population with which is identified and committed. The studies of post degree and masters have conceded her to be specialized in themes of Rural Development, and carrying out those of Development Studies, verifies that the situation of exclusion and disadvantage of the woman is global. So she decides to be specialized in Gender and Human Development, themes on which are her thesis of masters about and subsequent Diploma of Specialization.
Currently is an ILO official, works as technical specialist for employment creation at the Employment Intensive Investment Programme in Geneva, being responsible of the Americas Region. She is also the gender focal point.
She promotes and handles the rights based approach and participatory methodologies in order to empower and to put in value disadvantaged and vulnerable populations, specially Indigenous and tribal peoples.
