Francesco Grillo
St Antony’s College - Oxford University
Visiting Scholar

Francesco Grillo holds a Phd in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also got a MBA with High Honor from Boston University (MA) and a Laurea in Economics Magna Cum Laude from LUISS (Rome).
He is affiliate Professor at the University Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies and academic visitor at St. Antony’s College at the Oxford University. He is advisor to Italy’s Minister of Education & Research and to the European Commission on smart specialization.
Francesco’s academic interests range from European studies to innovation policies. His last book (published by Palgrave in 2016) was on the relationship between participation, innovation and economic growth in Europe.
Alongside his academic activity, Francesco is also a management consultant. He worked at McKinsey and he is, now, managing Director of Vision & Value, a consulting firm with offices in Rome and Brussels. He is also director of the think tank Vision, columnist for the main Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. He writes for the Guardian and Open Democracy and he is often a guest on Italian TV broadcasting.
