Women Peacebuilders For Water

The award and the jury

Women Peacebuilders for Water (WPW) addresses the female individuals who commit themselves to resolving the water-related conflicts either by spreading the knowledge on such important issue or by working directly on the field. The award aims at covering two fronts. Firstly, to thank the courageous woman who has defeated the water conflicts and secondly to promote the work of the female scholar who dedicates her academic work to providing new rules that could make a contribution in reaching a peace agreement.
This new International Prize also aims at remembering the sixteenth anniversary of the UN Resolution 1325 on the role of women in post-conflict and peacebuilding. It intends to exalt women, their ability and wisdom to build peace, precisely where the possession of a Precious and extinguishable resource as water too often triggers the temptation of war.
